Herefordshire Council

Herefordshire Council was formed in 1998 taking over the responsibilities of a number of previous authorities - Leominster District Council, South Herefordshire District Council, Hereford City Council and Hereford-Worcester County Council. It also took over parts of Malvern Hills District Council.

The county’s rolling pastures, rural charm and rustic image belies a host of healthy and vibrant businesses. Numerous diverse communities thrive on their distinct and individual character to give Herefordshire a uniqueness which is valued by residents, visitors and those who work in the county.

The council's Vision is "Herefordshire will be a place where people, organisations and businesses working together within an outstanding natural environment will bring about sustainable prosperity and well being for all".

As the County's largest employer, Herefordshire Council employs more than 5,000 full-time, part-time, and temporary members of staff. It offers its staff a wide range of career opportunities and development across some 700 services. Being such a large employer, there is always a turnover of staff and the authority is continually recruiting.
