About Southern Water
Southern Water supplies fresh, quality drinking water to more than one million households and treats and recycles wastewater from nearly two million households across Sussex, Kent, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Each day they supply 552 million litres of drinking water from their 95 water treatment works along more than 13,600 kilometres of water mains to their customers’ taps.
They take nearly 68 per cent of the water from underground sources, called aquifers, 27 per cent from rivers and five per cent from storage reservoirs.
Each day they also treat and recycle 1,400 million litres of wastewater at 373 treatment works after it is pumped through a sewer network of 21,500 kilometres.
