Holiday Winner April 2001
Pertemps Employee Val Cant has won a holiday in a Pertemps Profile Magazine competition designed to raise awareness of the plight of a local girl who is suffering from a rare disease. Val, who is temping at Bass Beers Worldwide, won a weekend break to Amsterdam in the competition, which asked staff to explain why they liked working for Pertemps.
"I havent won anything for 20 years. I cant wait to take trips to the bulb fields, and Anne Franks house and do a canal tour of the city," said Val who has not been away on holiday for the past two years.
A friend who bid for it in a charity auction held in aid of Kayleigh Glenn of Solihull had given the holiday to Pertemps Chairman, Tim Watts. Kayleigh, aged 13, suffers from a disorder, known as scoliosis, which has left her blind, mute and confined to a wheelchair.
The auction was organised by David Collier, business Manager of the Murder Mystery Company in Solihull. He has already helped to raise £25,000 for Kayleigh to have surgery on her spine and hopes to raise a further £10,000 to pay for a new bed, bath and medical supplies.
Tim who attended the auction and has contributed to the cost of a car, due to be auctioned for Kayleigh next month, said: "David is doing a wonderful job in trying to improve Kayleighs quality of life. I was lucky enough to be given the holiday by the person who bought it in the auction. I was delighted to use the gift to raise awareness among people in my own company."
Pertemps Restructure April 2001
Pertemps Recruitment Partnership has restructured its organisation to reflect Bristols growing financial services market. The permanent and temporary recruitment company has set up a specialist financial services division to focus purely on the needs of banks and investment firms.
Explaining the reasons behind the restructure, Gail Wild, Director of Pertemps Southern Region, said: "The employment opportunities within financial services companies in the Bristol area are expanding, a trend we initially spotted through our work in the call centre arena. There has been rapid growth in call centre jobs resulting from financial services companies changing the way they do business. However, as we quickly recognised, these companies do not only require call centre staff, they are also looking for management staff and qualified financial advisors. This is likely to be very much a growth area and we would like it to be our role to find the right individuals to fill these posts. We have already appointed dedicated staff to support this work."
The creation of the new financial services division is part of a wider restructuring programme within Pertemps two Bristol offices. With the aim of making it even easier for Pertemps to match job seekers with employers, the offices on College Green have been given new rules. The office at 36 College Green now focuses purely on temporary employment, where previously it was dedicated to all call centre work whether temporary and permanent. The office at 39 College Green now handles all permanent employment, where previously it dealt with all non-call centre temporary and permanent positions.
Gail Wild added: "The restructure enables us to offer an even better service to employers and job seekers. It means we can be even more effective in our recruitment work for call centres, manufacturing, professional services, administration, and of course financial services. I think the months ahead are going to be very rewarding for everyone."
