Pertemps Sponsored Research Endorses Integrated Approach
New research sponsored by Pertemps Recruitment Partnership has revealed that companies, which adopt a flexible pick and mix approach to jobs, face a win-win situation.
The New Working Patterns study - carried out by the Birmingham-based Centre for Tomorrows Company found that companies using a range of employment options including part-time work, job sharing and freelancing, are not only better able to control labour costs but also to meet employees needs for a variety of working patterns.
But the major conclusion of the research was that companies must integrate flexible working patterns into their overall strategy and values. Those that have achieved this, such as BT, AIT and Camelot, invariably benefit from much higher performance levels than competitors.
Pertemps chairman, Tim Watts, who is also a founder sponsor of the Centre for Tomorrows Company, said: "The key result of this research is that for a company to be successful, it must have a culture that integrates all of the different types of employees without any of them feeling like first or second class citizens.
"Pertemps has chosen to work with the Centre for Tomorrows Company and the Judge Institute of Management Studies on this issue to try and stimulate companies into thinking inclusively about all of the people who will make or break their success."
The Pertemps Group is the countrys largest independent recruitment agency with a turnover in excess of £150 million and more than 140 branches around the country.
