Pertemps receives 2 stars

Best Companies has awarded Pertemps a ‘Two Star Status’ following an in-depth national survey that was carried out over 140,000 employees from 558 organisations from across the UK.

The elite national accreditation scrutinises workplace engagement and sets a benchmark for other companies. The Star system accreditation follows a `Michelin star’ system, with companies awarded one star for first class, two stars for outstanding and three stars for extraordinary performance.

Pertemps have been presented with two stars alongside only 117 other companies in the UK. Pertemps were one of only 11 recruitment agencies from throughout the UK to achieve the two star accreditation.

This is a great achievement and step up for Pertemps following the award of one star last year. The company took on board all information provided by its employees as part of the Best Companies research and by addressing the views of their employees and changing policies and procedures, Pertemps have earned an addition star to their status.

Organisational successes have been defined using data from the 2008 Best Companies to Work For survey, which involved surveying over 140,000 employees from 558 companies. The Best Companies survey is designed to measure employee engagement and uses 66 questions to gain a comprehensive view of employee engagement across eight factors.

Jonathan Austin, Chief Executive, Best Companies said: “I would like to congratulate these companies on their outstanding achievement. Our role at Best Companies is to set a rigorous benchmark so that organisations can become even better employers. This year it is encouraging to see that the number of companies entering the accreditation scheme for excellence in workplace engagement has grown by one third."

Carmen Watson, Pertemps Director said: “It is fantastic news that we have been recognised with a two star status, and the fact we have improved on last years’ status. We look forward to receiving the survey results in order for us to continue to improve on our employee programme and hopefully next year obtain a Three Star Status!”

Lisa is making a stand in logistics

The driving division of national recruitment agency Pertemps has been put on the map with the soaring success of their new director and head of division, Lisa Thurkettle.

Dispelling the more traditional myth of women in logistics, Lisa, who is young, attractive and very professional has created a dynamic brand called drivers@pertemps and delivered a corporate client base in excess of £25 million.

Drivers@pertemps currently supplies not only to the top ten logistics businesses in the UK but also to local businesses with only one vehicle.  The division is national and operates from over 50 branches and on-site offices across the UK.

Lisa was appointed in June 2007 following a successful 10-year career within the industrial recruitment sector.  Her initial objectives were to create a brand, devise a strategy and raise the profile of the division to both clients and the logistics sector, leading ultimately to transforming drivers@pertemps into one of the largest driving recruitment business in the industry.

After only 7 months and following the appointment of a further 19 consultants, these objectives have now been met and the division is currently standing alone as one of the leaders in the recruitment and logistics marketplace.

Lisa has established several key areas of the business development in order to drive the division forward, especially in the areas of training and development.

The drivers training includes a full programme for consultants ensuring compliance with legislation; providing all clients with the highest quality of service and peace of mind.

In addition, in order to address the competitive market place Lisa has developed a full training suite for our flexible employees which is on offer to all clients, including digital tachographs, HIAB certification, reach and counterbalance forklift certification and is currently formulating a delivery model for the forthcoming drivers CPC.

Kent Thompson, Managing Director said: “Once Pertemps had decided to further develop this area of the business Lisa was an obvious candidate to help us drive our strategy forward and invest in niche markets.  We are delighted with her success and the subsequent growth of the division.”

Lisa Thurkettle said:  “I am thrilled to be working for Pertemps and heading up such an exciting division.  As all industry professionals will know this is an ever-changing market sector and one of the fastest growing industries in the UK. As a result the past 7 months have been challenging but rewarding and I am now witnessing the impact the launch of drivers@pertemps is having within our sector and experiencing some great successes.” .
