Speaking of the team’s success, Kent Thompson, Pertemps Director said:
“Pertemps is proud to be able to say that we are the official sponsors of this phenomenal sibling powerboat team whose achievements have simply gone from strength to strength.
Having our name associated with the dynamic duo is nothing but a huge honour for us and we are excited about further developments with this phenomenal sibling team!
We truly believe that winning the international Powerboat P1 Championships is only the beginning of a great journey for them!”
The Welsh duo have been racing for several years but teamed up at the beginning of the year for their first attempt at the prestigious P1 Superstock Championship. They settled into the competition straightaway, winning three rounds out of five to comfortably clinch the winning title from Quantum Racing.
Daisy, who started racing in 2012, has raced in both the UK and US series and is an extremely experienced navigator, having served her apprenticeship alongside former P1 Superstock champion John Wilson.
She said after the event:
“It just goes to show that the hard work and commitment we’ve given to powerboating has certainly paid off! We’ve looked after our Pertemps branded boat and she’s looked after us.
It’s truly been a rollercoaster of emotions and without the support of our family, friends and Pertemps as our sponsor, we wouldn’t have been able to achieve what we have!”
Her brother Sam, was team manager for Pertemps for the last three years and raced in a couple of P1 events last season before joining Daisy in the cockpit following the retirement of Wilson. Despite a lack of experience in powerboat racing, Sam in no stranger to motorsport competitions having raced in motocross from a young age and continues to compete in national Ironman triathlons.
Sam also added:
“What a way to clinch it! We took it easy Saturday to make sure we kept the points ticking over and on Sunday, we wanted to sign off it style.
I’m still learning every time we get on the water; this is just the beginning. We’ll work harder over the winter with the team to make sure we come back stronger.”
The dynamic duo wrapped up the title with two victories and a third as the final round of the season took place on the south coast in blustery and wet conditions.
Despite poor visibility and heavy rain, they came out and won both races, beating rookie team Spirit of Inverclyde, to record their best ever performance.
