UK students have ranked Grant Thornton as the best place to work as an intern, with Bloomberg LP top for enjoyment has revealed the best companies to work for as picked by interns themselves, with Grant Thornton holding off competition from the likes of BDO LLP and Bloomberg LP to come out on top.

The results of the survey show Bloomberg LP offers the most enjoyable internship experience for students in Britain. The firm was also found to give interns the greatest responsibility out of all the companies.

Financial services firm Grant Thornton was the best business to work for taking everything into account, excelling in categories such as enjoyment, support, teaching and atmosphere to score 8.66 out of 10.

A Grant Thornton audit intern said: "The skills I have gained will give me so much more confidence when starting work as a graduate. I have a much better understanding of the role I will be doing as I gained an invaluable insight into what working for the company truly involves.

"Everyone I worked with was incredibly welcoming and helpful; I was really accepted as part of the team."

BDO LLP and Bloomberg LP were second and third respectively with scores of 8.32 and 8.25. Barclays was ranked fourth with 8.22 and BP fifth with 8.16.

J.P. Morgan achieved a score of 8.08 to be ranked as the sixth best company to work for as an intern, with Cushman & Wakefield (8.07), PwC (7.94), Deloitte (7.92) and Towers Watson (7.92) also featuring in the top 10.
