Rate: £39.45 per hour
37 hours per week
 
We are recruiting for motivated qualified social worker to join our busy team. This role is with one of the UK’s highest performing local authorities, serving as one of the best places to live and work in.

This is a qualified role requiring you to be SCW registered and have relevant experience within children’s services.
 
As a Senior Social Worker in the Court Team, you will be responsible for a caseload of children who are subject to care proceedings. You will work closely with the children and their families, foster carers and other professionals involved to assess and develop permanence plans for the children you are allocated to, in line with Court timescales. The Court Team is a small, countywide team that supports children from initial hearing to conclusion of proceedings. We are a supportive, committed team who are looking for a Senior Social Worker who is as passionate about good practice and the children of Powys as we are.

You should be a Social Worker with at least three years post-qualifying experience, including care proceedings and/ or Court Work. 
 
What does the role involve?
 
  • The Senior Social Worker will carry a caseload of children in care proceedings from initial hearing to conclusion of proceedings.
  • Assessing and developing plans of permanence for children in line with Court timescales • Carrying out agreed tasks and managing your own caseload of children
  • Showing a commitment to providing a high standard of social work practice alongside meeting our statutory duties and following policy and procedures.
  • Support the team in sharing duty tasks and covering absence where needed Your main responsibilities will be:
  • To provide a social work service to individual children and young people to ensure their safety and promote their wellbeing and development.
  • To have case responsibility for children and young people subject to care proceedings.
  • Develop plans of permanence for children through robust assessment and understanding of children’s experiences and outcomes.
  • Write good quality evidence, statements and care plans for children.
  • Undertake visits to children you are allocated to in with Powys policies and statutory duties
  • Complete good quality assessments, promoting signs of safety as the model of social work in Powys.
  • To work as part of a team, undertaking tasks on a duty rotational basis, and providing cover for absent colleagues.
  • To provide guidance, mentoring and support to less experienced staff in the team where necessary.
  • To foster and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and partners that enable the team to work effectively.
