Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Quality Engineer to join a leading Automotive Manufacturing firm. Due to internal promotion they are now recruiting for a Quality Engineer to join their team in near Wolverhampton, in a role which will be integral to supporting quality and process improvements within a plant that is undergoing an exciting period of change and turnaround activity.

Salary circa: to 38,000

Location: West Midlands

The Role:

The Quality Engineer will have responsibility for supporting the business in implementing best practice quality systems and to liaise with customers and internal departments for all quality related issues.

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the successful Quality Engineer will be responsible for the following key deliverables:

o Analyse customer returns, concerns and defects generating action plans to reduce risks and solve potential problems

o Defining features of the product and generate control/testing methods, test equipment and frequency of testing using control plans to meet production requirements

o Evaluate and define the process flow using process flow charts

o Perform gauge R&R and capability studies

o Initiating root cause analysis using 8D's, and identify short-term containment actions, preventative actions and final solutions

o Active involvement in the production part approval process, defining level of PPAP required from suppliers and meeting PPAP requirements from the customer, whilst preparing and controlling associated (sample) paperwork


You will already have experience working in a Quality Engineer role, ideally within the automotive industry and posses the following skill set:

o HNC/ Degree education in a manufacturing/ engineering discipline or comparable industrial experience

o Exposure to automotive quality standards ideally working with OE or tier1 / 2 supply chain.

o Able to generate and analyse data using methods such as SPC

o Have an understanding of APQP, FMEA, PPAP and control plans

o Gauge R & R experience

o Self-motivated, strong, confident communicator

This position is computable from Birmingham, West Bromwich, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley areas.
