Start-up Practice Accountant, Southampton

Do you have experience of working within an accountancy practice? Are you a qualified accountant? Sheridan Maine is delighted to be working with a growing accountancy practice and they are offering a newly created Accountant job on a permanent basis, based in the Southampton area.
Due to significant success in their current South Coast office, this accountancy practice is looking to expand their existing client based within the Southampton area. Initially working from home within the Accountant position, the intention is to establish a new client base and grow the office in due course. Sheridan Maine can confirm that the company will offer full support for this individual and encourage their growth both professionally and personally.
Within the role as Accountant, you will be expected to:
- Identify new business and develop a client base.
- Provide client support and promote the new office.
- Preparation of statutory accounts through working papers.
- Calculate computations for personal and corporation tax and subsequent return preparation.
- Complete bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and CIS.
- Develop your skills in line with client requirements.
As a successful applicant for the Accountant role, you will be professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA) and have prior experience of working within a practice environment. You will be technically strong and possess good communication skills, being able to engage and promote the business with new clients. You will be able to work independently and take ownership of the role, as this position will initially be working from home, with a view to opening premises once the client base supports this, with an intention to grow the team in due course.
