Senior Highways & Infrastructure Engineer – Surrey or London

RGB are currently representing a large Multi-Disciplinary Consultancy with who are looking for a Senior Highway & Infrastructure Engineer to join their team. The Role:
An exciting vacancy has arisen for a Senior Highway Design Engineer to join their Transport team based in their Surrey office. This role will offer the opportunity to carry out highway and infrastructure design for a range of interesting projects varying in both complexity and size. You will become an integral member of a design team contributing to cost effective technical solutions striving to meet the expectations of clients and the business in the quality of deliverables, budget and programme.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work with a team of engineers and technicians to deliver both highway and infrastructure projects from feasibility stage through to construction
• Travel to project meetings, offices of other project team members and sites as required (such as to carry out site reconnaissance surveys and supervise construction)
• On larger projects provide support to senior staff and manage work undertaken by engineers and technicians
• On smaller projects undertake daily project management responsibilities, ensuring both budget and programme targets met
• Support the Transport Planning team and other RHDHV Business Lines with respect to undertaking highway feasibility design and the production of budget construction cost estimates
• Assist in the training and mentoring of junior staff to develop their skills and knowledge
• Liase with highway authorities, statutory bodies and client project teams as required (including attendance at design and project meetings)

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:
• Relevant vocational qualification such as MEng, BEng, MSc, HND or HNC (or equivalent)
• Considerable relevant experience in highways and infrastructure design, across all project aspects from conceptual layout to detailed design
• Proven experience of working with a range of internal and external colleagues and project teams, including multiple disciplines (architects, planners, geotechnical, structures etc.)
• Proven experience of liaison and consultation with local highway authorities and statutory bodies
• Experience in use of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (Volume 6) for highway link and junction design and with local highway authority standards
• Knowledge of Health and Safety and CDM obligations relating to highway and infrastructure schemes
• Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, as well as Microsoft Excel and Word
• Some experience of site supervision
• Some experience in the managing and mentoring staff

Desirable:
• Membership of (or working towards membership of) a relevant professional institution (e.g. IHT, ICE)
• Previous experience with a major consulting engineering company
• Working experience of using MX and/or Civil 3D
• Good understanding of Statutory processes including S278, S38 and S104 agreements
• Experience in managing project budgets
• Basic knowledge of NEC contracts
• Proven experience seeking innovative solutions for the delivery of scheme design and construction
• Experience of site and construction contracts
• Experience of drainage design including use of MicroDrainage and knowledge of Sewers for Adoption
• Working knowledge of the Manual for Contract Documents
• Working knowledge of Highways Agency pavement design standards (DMRB Volume 7)

Benefits:
Salary range is 40,000 - 46,000 plus a contributory pension, discretionary company bonus, Health and Dental care, Life Insurance, 25 days holiday and a flexible working policy.
