Do you want to be a secondary Physical Education teacher?
Then train with the North East Partnership SCITT - an outstanding PE specific initial teacher training provider.
The well-established North East Partnership SCITT provides outstanding training for those wishing to pursue a career in secondary physical education teaching. In November 2013 the course was graded outstanding in every category by Ofsted and was identified as the top secondary SCITT in the country in the Smithers Good Teacher Training Guide 2013. The course is delivered by a consortium of 30 local secondary schools in the North East of England. John Spence Community High School, an outstanding school in North Tyneside, is the lead school. Churchill Community College, a newly designated Teaching School in North Tyneside, is the associate lead school. Northumbria University is the awarding body.
Recruitment to the course is rigorous and this along with high quality training and strong placement schools ensures that all trainees complete the course as either good or outstanding trainee teachers. Over the course of their PGCE year trainees develop subject knowledge in all areas of the national curriculum as well as in theory physical education at key stages four and five. In addition, they gain a range of national governing body qualifications including a teachers' trampolining qualification and a teacher' swimming qualification. Placements are in two contrasting schools plus trainees gain valuable experience working with children who have SEND and EAL.
