Secondary Inclusion Teacher with excellent behaviour management required for a small unit based in Clacton starting November 2016
My client is a SEND school based in Clacton specialising in SEMH/ASC for Key Stage 3 & 4 students.
The school are looking for a supply teacher with cross curricular experience to work with Key Stage 3 (KS3) & Key Stage 4 (KS4) experience to work with mainstream students that are in an alternative provision. You will need to have some previous experience of working with high functioning Autism and behaviour in either a special school or a mainstream setting.
The classes are small approximately six pupils and you will be supported by an experienced Learning Support Assistant as well as the management team.
Key responsibilities -
To ensure that students are focused and engaged in learning.
To assist with the delivery of an extensive extended schools programme.
To empower students to manage their own behaviour.
Duties Include -
To support the learning, attainment and achievement of students at the schoo.l
To be able to build positive relationships.
To be able to manage challenging situations through a range of de-escalation strategies.
To be able to monitor student progress and attainment using both data and observation in order for students to meet their full social and learning potential.
To keep daily records measuring student behaviour, attendance and academic achievement as required.
To attend termly target setting meetings and provide information about students for Individual Education Plans (IEP's) and Behaviour Management Plans.
To attend meetings with parent/carers as required.
Teacher Specification - Clacton on Sea Essex
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS.
Previous experience of working with very challenging students in mainstream or in a SEND environment essential.
Experience of students on the Autistic Spectrum including Asperger's.
Experience of working with Secondary aged students.
Excellent communication skills.
The ability to remain calm when the need arises and have excellent negotiation skill.s
The ability to build relationships quickly with students and their families.
Good sense of humour!
