PR & Communications Executive


Purpose of Role:

Focus on strengthening the company's brand through reputation management, thought leadership and proactive communications (internal and external).

Key responsibilities will include:

Engage with internal and external stakeholders, developing thoughtful, high-impact content to create profile-raising opportunities.

Providing innovative marketing content to support campaigns

Assisting with the preparation and implementation of a PR strategy

Design plan, execute and evaluate innovative PR campaigns to promote the business

Preparing written material including press releases, presentations and website copy

Liaising with industry trade associations, candidates and the press

Monitoring media and relevant coverage

Plan press and public relations campaigns in order to support the delivery of a growing and diverse audience and to coordinate their successful implementation

Write and manage high quality awards submissions

Identify, write and publish high quality content for internal stakeholders, including the monthly newsletter and intranet

Work with the Communications Researcher and the Digital Content and Design Executives to identify industry news and develop content for press and digital

Handle press enquiries and, when required, act as a company spokesperson.

Respond rapidly to, and deal effectively with, enquiries from internal/external stakeholders and media

Spot emerging issues amongst key audiences and ensure that the business addresses them in a timely and effective way, escalating if necessary

Develop and maintain excellent media relationships

Creation and co-ordination of key documents and briefing materials including key messages, media fact sheets, presentations, speeches, whitepapers, opinion pieces, articles, case studies etc.

Link in with the Head of Marketing and Sponsorship to maximise any opportunities to increase brand awareness

Measure and evaluate PR campaigns and media activity

Contribute to an environment where everyone can collaborate on producing the very best work

Requirements of the role:

Understanding of how different types of media work and how best to engage journalists.

Experience of planning, implementing and evaluating creative and effective PR campaigns within tight budgets and to deadlines.

Ability to write accurate, engaging copy and a sharp eye for proof reading.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly and work with and influence people across a range of specialisms and backgrounds.

Proven ability to think creatively, identifying news angles and imaginative feature hooks to sell into a range of print, broadcast and online media.

Excellent IT skills inc. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

Have strong understanding of PR measurement methodologies and tools

Keen eye for detail

Ability to work to a deadline

Ability to work off own initiative and with minimum supervision

Good interpersonal skills

Great team player

Desirable skills and experience:

English degree or related/relevant discipline

Experience of using InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator

Salary is depending on experience 18-20k Pa

Hours are Monday to Friday 9-5.30
