Civil Engineer

This is a 3 month assignment paying up to 12 per hour. The team are based in Reading, however as this is a project role there will be travel required around the Thames Valley area.

This role will be working for the UK's largest Water and Sewerage Company. You will be providing a one stop shop for internal customers in Waste and Clean water including:

Appraisal and investigation of existing plant design, engaging specialist skills to determine optimum engineering solutions for plant modernisation or refurbishment works and finally the Management and delivery of these works in a safe and efficient manner to programme and budget.

The main duties of this role will be -

To carry out engineering appraisals of asset condition, function and failure. Prepare appropriately detailed scope and requirements document.

Providing engineering solutions for plant modernisation/refurbishment works, providing input to optimise plant operability and maintainability and efficiency.

Managing the procurement process for Bought in Services, materials and labour, working closely with framework suppliers and approved sub-contractors.

Leading and managing multi-disciplined site based teams combining both direct and in-directly labour.

Site based co-ordination of multi-disciplined installation/refurbishment works. Comply with relevant health and safety specifications.

Be a good team player, promoting engagement within the team and with stakeholders.

The ideal candidate for this role will possess solid experience a relevant industrial / construction engineering environment.

You'll have Good inter-personnel skills, be an effective communicator; numerate; literate and willing to train & develop your personal skill base in line with the requirements of the role.

You will be qualified to BTEC/HND level (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. There is a preference towards candidates whose career includes an Indentured Apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering however this isn't essential. Detailed knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues with particular reference to construction works including CDM.

You'll be happy to work with minimum supervision, under your own initiative to deliver specified outputs.

Fully competent at using the appropriate Company IT systems including Excel, Word & MS project. (SAP, AutoCad, Primervera knowledge would be useful but not essential)
