Senior Designer required for this leading subcontractor, for their roofing and cladding projects, based out of Redhill.
Reporting to the Design Manager, responsible for Designers, Assistant Designers and Trainee Designers.
To lead the design team for an allocated project and deliver completed designs on time and within budgeted cost. Ensure materials are scheduled to meet the programme requirements of those projects.
Leading the design resource allocated to a Project both within the Department and by the use of Design Sub-Contractors to meet the requirements of the Companies Contracts.
Personal contribution to the Companies Design output, as may be necessary to meet a specific requirement.
Monitoring all Design output against project requirements. Taking such actions as may be necessary to ensure timely delivery of the Design output with the agreement of the Design Manager.
Providing a report for allocated contracts to the Design Manager for presentation at the Companies monthly CVR meetings and attendance at that meeting if required.
Ensuring the Companies position is protected, in the event that Design input from Customers is late or inadequate, by correspondence with the Customer in consultation with the Design Manager, relevant Project Manager and Commercial Manager.
Leading of meetings held between individual Designers, Project Managers and Commercial Managers.
If required, attendance at and contribution to design progress meetings with the Customer or his representative to ensure that design output is reviewed and is meeting the Customers requirements and expectations.
Arranging the attendance of individual Designers at Design progress meetings with the Customer or his representative to ensure that Design output is reviewed and is meeting the Customers requirements and expectations.
Ensuring that the design teams output complies with the Companies Documented Quality Management System to ISO 9001.
Ensuring that, where the Company has a ‘Designer’ status under CDM Regulations, that the Companies Statutory obligations are discharged by the adequate production of Design Risk Assessment as may be required for an individual Contract.
Liaison with Technical Managers as may be necessary to ensure that the quality and adequacy of the Companies Design output is of the highest standard.
Liaison with the Design Manager as may be necessary to consider and implement changes to working practices and or systems within the Department to the benefit of the Companies operations.
Ensuring the prompt resolution of design related problems that may arise on Contracts and for which the Companies Project Managers require approved designs to be re-considered.
From time to time carry out related functions as may be required by any of the Companies Directors.
Provide appropriate support to partners within an collaborative working relationship environment, with selected upstream and downstream partners, in accordance with BS11000

Signing off of Company Design output as meeting Contract requirements, subject to agreement, if necessary, with the Design Manager, Companies Technical Director and/or Technical Managers.
Contractual correspondence with the Companies Customers with regard to Design related matters subject to agreement with the Design Manager, Project Manager and Commercial Manager as may be necessary.
Preparation of and submission of Design Risk Assessment under the Companies CDM obligations.
To the Design Manager for the following:
Ensuring that the Companies Design output reflects Specified requirements, the Companies accepted Tender and selection of materials to meet these requirements.
Ensuring that the Companies Design output meets National and International Standards, Building Regulations and recognized ‘good practice’ within the Companies specialist field.
Ensuring that the Companies Statutory obligations under the CDM Regulations are discharged.
Compliance with the Companies Documented Quality Management System.
Ensuring that the Companies design output is available to meet individual Contract requirements both in respect of drawn information and material procurement.
Maintaining a record on Contractual correspondence with regard to events or causes which have affected the production of the Companies design output.
The main responsibilities of the post will be reviewed on a regular basis, in consultation with the post holder, to meet the changing needs of the Company in line with the Company’s Strategic Plan and the Business Management System.
