On July 22 and 23, they will complete the ‘Marathon in the Malverns’ to raise money for Gloucester charity Increase The Peace.

The charity was established by Delroy Ellis in 2007 following massive cuts to the youth service. Initially, it provided a youth club provision two times a week, but since then it has experienced rapid growth and is now more than just a youth club.

Increase the Peace now provide four clubs per week as well as holding a variety of fun events and activities around art, sport, music, healthy eating and how to play a positive role in the community for local children.

The charity also holds a 'Peace Peddlers' initiative. During the evenings, committed outreach youth workers hop on their bikes and approach groups of young people who could be at risk of committing antisocial behaviour. Their aim is to build a rapport over time and to steer them toward more positive choices.

Workshops are also delivered in schools and colleges to demonstrate the harsh realities of knife crime. This involves input from victims and perpetrators who have turned their life around.

Children at the club also had the chance to travel to Hungary with an International Youth Exchange Programme; an opportunity they wouldn't have had without Increase the Peace.

After having their application for further funding turned down this year, the charity faces uncertain times and have had to temporarily suspended some of their invaluable services. They are now exploring various ways to raise much needed funds to continue their incredible work.

Pertemps Gloucester and Pertemps Driver Training aim to raise £1000 to support Increase the Peace. To raise money, the team will set off from a small village in Worcestershire and walk for 13 miles to camp, where they will ‘Pitch for Peace’ and stay overnight. The following day, the 13-mile walk back commences, but this time over the steep inclines of the Malvern Hills.

If you can help raise well-needed funds for Increase the Peace, head to to donate.
