Meeting with Gold Award employers

After being awarded with the Gold Award, the MOD’s highest recognition for employer support, Pertemps and other Armed Forces-friendly employers have launched an Alumni Group to increase industry support for the British Army.

Along with Pertemps, other Gold standard employers are part of the group to further develop the aims of the Armed Forces Covenant and to tighten the ties between Defence and employers.

Pertemps were presented with the Gold Award by Prince William last year at the Employer Recognition Scheme awards ceremony for our PEM initiative designed to provide civilian driving training and careers to Army Reservists.

The group of fellow Gold Award holders plan to work closely with the MOD to promote the Armed Forces Covenant, champion Armed Forces engagement with employers and provide an informed and influential stakeholder sounding board for new initiatives that build on the good work already achieved.

Design, engineering and project management consultancy Atkins, who secured their Gold award in 2015, proposed the creation of the Alumni Group. The company’s Armed Forces champion, Chris Jones, an RAF reservist, is serving as the Alumni Group’s initial chairperson. This role will rotate around member organisations in the future.

The launch event saw members of the Group come together to celebrate their achievements, network and share best practise. Our Forces Liaison Manager, Darren Knight, attended the meeting representing Pertemps. Ex-Royal Marine and Paralympian Joe Townsend spoke at the event also.

Brigadier Mark van der Lande CBE, Head of Reserves, Reserve Forces and Cadets, commented, “The Employer Recognition Scheme Gold award winners have raised the bar for employer support and are well placed to share best practice and inspire other employers to follow their lead and experience the benefits of doing so.”

We look forward to continuing our support for the MOD and inspiring other employers to experience the benefits of a partnership with the Armed Forces.
