Nick Reed, Tim Jones and John Duckers holding children's books

Pertemps Network Group purchased 100 books worth £500 to support Birmingham’s Town Hall and Symphony Hall, registered charity 1053937.

The books are by children’s author and charity partner John Duckers. £1 of the book price is donated to THSH to support the music and arts opportunities they provide to over 15,000 children and adults across the city.

John, a former journalist, PR guru and business editor at the Birmingham Post wanted to thank us for all their support.

He said, "Pertemps very kindly bought 100 copies of my first book, The Amazing Adventures of the Silly Six, for distribution to good causes in aid of charity Cure Leukaemia. So I was absolutely thrilled when they agreed to do the same with sequel The Crazy Adventures of the Silly Six, supporting Town Hall Symphony Hall.
"Writing children's books is something I have always wanted to do but never had the time. But as my own two children turned into adults and pressure of work became less intense I finally got down to ensuring the ambition became reality. The response from children has been wonderful. There has been great feedback as to how much they enjoy the tales. And, as that was the main reason for writing the books, it has been very self-satisfying."

THSH rely on the generosity of their supporters, such as businesses, individuals, trusts and foundations to provide education and community activity. They programme over 800 events per year and welcome over 600,000 people to a variety of events, bringing lots of visitors to the second city. THSH show a huge variety of events, from jazz pioneers to the best names in rock and pop as well as their Birmingham Classical concert season.

Nick Reed, Chief Executive of THSH, said, “We are very grateful to John for donating £1 for every book sold and a huge thanks to Pertemps for purchasing so many books. We are very grateful to them for this generous gesture. Supporting culture and the arts is fundamental and we are lucky here in Birmingham to have such amazing venues to host an array of wonderful events and shows.”
John added, "My particular thanks to Tim Watts who has been such a driving force across the West Midlands business community and best wishes to his grandson in getting to know the Silly Six characters."

Copies of The Crazy Adventures of The Silly Six can be purchased at the Symphony Hall Shop.
