One of the country’s leading recruitment specialists, Pertemps, today announced its partnership with the Purpose Coalition on a Levelling Up Impact Report which will set out its contribution to the levelling up agenda in the UK.
Carmen Watson, Chair of Pertemps Network Group
Pertemps has worked in permanent, contract and temporary recruitment for over 60 years. It is now one of the largest providers of staffing solutions in the UK. Its staff have a vested interest in the organisation’s success through an Employee Benefit Trust and Share Incentive Plan. Its portfolio of services operates across a wide range of industries and sectors, covering most job disciplines.
The Levelling Up Impact Report will highlight the work Pertemps is already undertaking to deliver a positive impact on communities across the country within the architecture of the Purpose Goals, known as the Levelling Up Goals in the UK. Established in 2021 by former Education Secretary Rt Hon Justine Greening with input from businesses, universities and policymakers, they provide a framework to help tackle the challenges the country faces following the pandemic. They focus on key life stages - from early years through to adulthood, alongside other barriers such as open recruitment and fair career progression - and identify the main issues that need to be resolved to create a level playing field for everyone.
The Goals are the first major piece of work by the Purpose Coalition, which includes some of the UK’s most purpose-led businesses, universities and public sector organisations, such as Amazon, bp, Gateley, Cisco, the BBC, UKPN, Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, Staffordshire University and many others.
Carmen Watson, Chair of Pertemps Network Group, said: “For many years, Pertemps has strived to support local communities in areas of job creation and improving the quality of lives through sustainable, meaningful employment opportunities.
“We are really excited to be joining the Purpose Coalition as it provides an opportunity to showcase the work we have been doing in this area, the successful outcomes we have achieved and our aspirations for the future in line with Levelling Up Goals.
“I am enormously proud of the commitment and dedication of our recruitment teams and the trailblazing approach deployed to get to where we are, and the support and commitment of our board to this agenda.
“The over-riding key to our success has been the partnership approach with our key stakeholders, mainly our clients, our candidates and our community-based outreach partners.”
Justine Greening added: “Providing access to work and employment opportunities is crucial to the levelling up agenda, closing the gaps that still exist in too many disadvantaged communities. It is especially important following the pandemic as we seek to boost the country’s recovery with a skilled and responsive workforce, equipped to respond to a greener, digitalised economy.
“As a long-established and respected recruitment company, Pertemps uses its expertise alongside its strong family values as leverage for social good. With offices in high streets across the country, it has the capacity to help jobseekers to achieve their potential, wherever they are on their employment journey and whatever their background – looking for their first job, for a more challenging role or for a change of career. That positive impact also extends to the employers it works with, helping to equip their businesses with the right skills at the right time.
“Pertemps has demonstrated that it is fully committed to being a purpose-led business. The Purpose Coalition is proud to be working with it on its Levelling Up Impact Report to deliver opportunity into the heart of the communities it serves.”
