Part of a major international group, this organisation is setting up a new manufacturing facility on a 'green field site' to produce complex high value components for the automotive industry. As a Quality Engineer your role will be to establish best practice manufacturing processes and methodology to ensure world class productivity and competitiveness can be achieved within a brand new production facility.
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer must have extensive experience within automotive production environment, including TS16949, APQP and PPAP processes. The manufacturing operation is new and requiring the creation of a quality department, the establishment of the appropriate team, operating procedures and facilities required in the delivery and maintenance of TS16949 accreditation and all aspects of Supplier Quality Assurance. As a part of this newly created team you will be heavily involved in supporting the Quality Manager in delivering this function.
The key functions of the role:
o Work with production and design teams to ensure quality assurance, which shall include involvement and or development of FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, PPAP and PSW
o To lead any process improvement to ensure cost effective manufacturing process
o Measure & report of quality performance within the production area and supply chain as necessary (KPI's) & reporting to the Quality Manager
o Assist in management of any customer and or supplier quality issues, working closely within Group and external technical suppliers to fully investigate and conclude these issues
o Liaison with customers on performance matrices to ensure the business is aligned on all KPIs and feedback on any open issues
o Conduct supplier audits to ensure TS16949 compliance as and when required to assist in supplier development activities in conjunction with SQA team
o Conduct internal audits to TS16949 to ensure continued compliance to the standard, performance of process micro audits to assist in production improvement initiatives
o Assist where necessary in the development and certification to TS16949
Qualifications / Education / Experience required:
o Degree in Engineering desirable
o Lead auditor in either ISO9001 or TS16949
o Able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of quality assurance tools, techniques and methodologies
o Excellent presenter & communicator in all aspects of Automotive Supplier Quality Assurance
o Proven track record in APQP / PSW / PPAP of automotive components
o Fully conversant in transmission manufacturing methods, understanding detailed drawings.
o To review and action GD&T dimensioning.
o DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan including relevant component inspection process and procedures
o Proven ability with problem solving techniques such as 8D systems or similar
o Knowledge and understanding of ISO9000 & ISO14001 & TS16949
o Ability to review supplier documentation and support suppliers if required
o Overall planning to support full PSW on time
