Job Title: Tooling Engineer
Salary: £30-40K p.a.
Overview (Tooling Engineer)
We are currently looking to recruit a Project Tooling Engineer to support Project Manager’s in the development of press tooling.
Duties (Tooling Engineer):
o Be the key point of contact for the Project Manager for a specific project in all activities and issues related to toolings
o Support FMEA as team member
o Support Project Manager on tooling design (Solidworks) and feasibility studies
o Actively participate in Project Meetings, reporting tooling technical issues and potential resolutions.
o Manage the press tools and related equipment for all projects
o Attend and manage tool trials and issue Tool Trial Report.
o Attend and support tool trials.
o Assist with repairs where necessary and engineer solutions to tooling problems
o Ensure that all new tools fit the appropriate presses and meet the companies tool specification
o Monitor manufacture of tooling, ensuring timing and quality targets are met
o Support update of tool documentation and specification and ensure all new tooling is signed off prior to shipment
o Provide specialist advice to internal and external customers as required
o Support the Purchasing department in the effective procurement of the optimum tooling
o Assess tooling requirements for a new project by liaising with all relevant personnel
o Ensure new tooling conforms to the latest Health and Safety legislation including risk assessments
o Ensure all tools have latest Engineering levels on a name plate, and conform to ISO9001-2008
o Liaison with Production and Engineering for process development
o Support Project Manager on issuing and approval of Purchase Requisitions and keeping track of project expenditures
o Ensure product manufactured with new tooling meets customer requirements for quality and dimensions
o Comply with APQP requirements
Responsibilities (Tooling Engineer):
o Tooling engineering for NPI
o Knowledge of customer requirements and quality standards
o To project a professional image of the company to customers / visitors
o To use the escalation procedure for any issues/concerns e.g. Quality / downtime
Skills & Experience:
o ONC in engineering or relevant experience
o Manual dexterity
o Ability to work on own initiative
o Good I.T. skills
o Good communication skills
o Good literacy & numeracy skills
o Strong attention span with a good eye for detail
o Must be prepared to travel
o Hold a valid UK driving licence
