This leading developer and manufacturer of safety critical components for a broad range of automotive OEMs are seeking a hands on Project Engineer/ Manager to be responsible for managing all aspects of a successful program from product development to launch, including timing, engineering, testing, quality and profitability..
Project Engineer / Manager (Automotive New Product Introduction)
Salary: to £45000
o Champion the quoting process for prototype and production quotes & timing.
o Develop and maintain program budgets (costing).
o Responsible for developing and maintaining a program time line.
o Champion of 'design for manufacturing' & provides on going design input for conducting manufacturing feasibility and customer requirements.
o Coordinates all aspects of prototype related activities.
o Manages and follows up on all new program testing (internal & external)
o Oversee kick off and approval of new/modified tooling / gauges check fixtures. (Must be present for all die trials.)
o Participate in the specification, sourcing and approval of capex and tooling
o Conducts program milestone reviews, tracks open issues and reports the status along with corrective actions to the GM and VP on a monthly basis.
o Coordinates and reviews all Process sign-off and oversees the preparation of PPAP documentation and review submissions.
o Involved in DFMEA, PMFEA, DVP&R, FEA and design review processes.
You will already have several years experience working as a Production Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, NPI Launch Engineer or Project Engineer role working in a high volume manufacturing environment, ideally with some exposure to automotive manufacturing quality standards.
o Knowledge of automated assembly processes incorporating PLC controls and robotics plus associated poka yoke systems
o Experience of metal fabrication and joining processes highly desirable: welding, laser cutting, stamping, riveting, adhesives etc is highly desirable
o Proven experience of problem resolution and corrective action
o High level of organizational skills coupled with the ability to interact with customers and suppliers at all levels
o Highly numerate with good analytical skills
o Ideally Engineering Apprenticeship and HNC/HND/Degree qualified in an engineering related subject or equivalent
