We are working with an established Aerospace business who are seeking a Quality Engineer with previous quality control experience of Machining & Finishing processes.

Duties:

- Control the Quality of all product types through machining and finishing stages
- To investigate and action all non-standards relating to machining and inspection stages including sub-contractors
- Develop root cause analysis for major non standard events and instigate actions as part of the regular area non standards meetings
- Develop process control and machine capabilities using SOP's and control plans to capture and extend best practice
- Investigate yield opportunities based on Pareto analysis of losses through final manufacturing stages
- Develop specific / measurable yield projects to drive continuous improvement against defined yield standards
- To maintain and improve the current calibration control system for all measuring equipment
- Work closely with the ultrasonic testing section to understand and develop surface finish requirements and standards for main billet routes to minimise untestable rejects
- Investigate billet tailoring and mark out losses to maximise yield on billet and slab routes
- Co-ordinate Technical MPE activity for route changes and new equipment Capex
- Develop metric to demonstrate effective yield improvement activity
- Support final product release in close out of Non-standard issues and actions

Requirements:

- HNC/Degree in materials science/engineering
- Route cause analysis / 8D techniques
- Ability to initiate MPE / projects based on yield issues
- Knowledge of machining techniques
