A very well respected university based in on the outskirts of Telford is looking for a temporary engineering technician, which could go permanent for the right candidate.
You will be working alongside the Lecturers and Students providing technical and practical support to both. Using machines and Hi Tech equipment to produce teaching aids and test rigs. Stage manage Lectures, Workshops, Laboratories, Soil / Machinery Halls, testing grounds and Engineering fields.
You will be reporting to the engineering lab manager working to operate and demonstrate the departmental machinery, and be able to understand and work with ISO Geometric Tolerancing, also knowing Limits and Fits and how they are expressed.
As part of a busy role you will be using the tool room and machine shop equipment to produce parts to drawing & specification, whilst knowing the material selection and treatment for engineering designed parts.
The Successful Candidate:
- Minimum C Grade in Maths,English and Science
- HNC or BTEC in Mech/production engineering
- Practical Workshop Experience
- Knowledge of Engineering Drawings
- Good Computer Skill inc Excel
- Full Current Driving Licence
- The ability to effectively communicate
- Be able to work effectively alone or within a team
- DBS check
The working week is 37 hours over Monday to Friday, inclusive. There may be a requirement for overtime working from time to time and time off in lieu may be allowed for agreed hours worked in excess of 37 per week
£11.00 per hour.
