SEND Teaching Assistant-2 part-time posts available
Location - Wilmslow, Cheshire, UK
2 x SEND Teaching Assistants required providing support to pupils in small groups with complex Autism, and associated behaviours. Working in the specialist ASC provision of this highly respected high school, you will have an understanding of the difficulties facing young people on the autistic spectrum and demonstrate the ability to guide and support the students to be able to access all aspects of the curriculum. The school has two part-time positions available; one is to work three full days per week (Tues, Thurs, Fri), the second is to work two full days per week (Thurs & Fri). This is an exciting opportunity to work within a very pro-active school, with strong community links, an excellent reputation, and an ethos to encourage students to enjoy their learning environment.
You will work under the guidance of teaching staff, to support the students in and out of the classroom. You should have good communication skills as you will have to liaise between students, class teachers and parents. You will be able to demonstrate empathy and calm when presented with challenging behaviour. You will have the ability to understand student triggers, and ensure that their support alleviates barriers to learning.
