Student Carer/Physio Support (P/T-15 hours per week, 12.00pm-3.00pm)
Location - Warrington, UK
Duration: Temporary (long term)
The Education Network currently has an exciting opportunity within an SEN school supporting 16-19 yr old students with Complex Learning Needs. The role involves working with several students from the post 16 college on a 1:1 basis with physiotherapy, speech and language and lunch time support.
Due to the nature of the duties-you must be physically fit, and be able to assist students with their personal mobility. This is a temporary role initially but leading to long term/permanent, Monday-Friday, 12:00-3:00 every day-term time only. Experience in a similar role is essential.
This would not suit someone in a permanent role as is temporary initially, although leading to long term-permanent for the right candidate.
Details of role:
12.00-1.00: 1:1 lunchtime support-working with a student (19 years) with medical needs, supervising his lunch period-assisting him as necessary with eating and co-ordination. The student communicates through sign language. You will then subsequently supervise him, after eating, for the rest of his lunch period (including lunch club/activities)-this would involve some basic personal care, and at times the administering of oxygen (alongside other staff-training given)
1.00-2.00: Speech and language support-working with 3 male students, working through schemes/sessions that are pre-planned and delivered via iPad. (Mon, Weds, Thurs). Tues-Physio sessions with 2 students, following set routine. Fri-assisting students attending hydrotherapy.
2.00-3.00: 1:1 Physiotherapy support-working with 2 students following set physio routines. You will assist students onto the floor, and back up afterwards, as well as working with the students on the floor throughout the session-as such you do need to be physically fit and prepared to lift students, as well as working on your knees at floor level.
