I am currently recruiting for a Rental Desk Operative based in Tamworth

Hours : Monday to Friday 08:00 to 17:30

Salary : £17,000 to £19,000

Holiday Entitlement : 20 days plus bank holidays

Position : Fulltime/Permanent

I am looking for a well presented individual to join a small team in an open plan office who is keen to learn new skills.

You must have previous experience with answering calls and experience within a customer service role.


The main purpose of this role is to carry out tasks relating to the fleet hire function. To operate as a Rental Desk Operative demonstrating that you can build and maintain customer relationships through telephone, email and face to face contact.

The post holder has a responsibility for day to day support of the Rental Desk Supervisor in the movement of the fleet and dealing appropriately with breaks downs and repairs. Long term the role is required to support the Supervisor in ensuring the upkeep of the overall condition of the fleet and ensuring that vehicles are monitored and maintained appropriately, utilising systems and procedures to assist with this.


• Deal with customer enquiries/queries.

• Process rental agreements for delivered and collected vehicles- using pro hire correctly and monitoring the online daily diary.

• Deal with breakdowns and organising replacement vehicles efficiently.

• Complete vehicle defect sheets for vehicles that have off hired and require workshop dealer attention

• Monitor the fleet- old vehicles that are due for sales to be replaced with new vehicles.

• Update V5, New vehicles and tax disc spreadsheets daily

• Check in new vehicles when delivered and label appropriately

• Monitor customer insurances through monthly reminder letters and a spreadsheet for monitor and follow up

• Produce Sales Packs

• Renew vehicle road fund licences

• To be involved in the fleet department and all aspects of fleet control


• Strong communicator with the ability to work under own supervision

• Strong customer service ethic – fist point of contact at reception and on phones

• Effective ability to work methodically and to prioritise and manage own workload with changing priorities.

• Accuracy and clarity of written communication on paperwork

• Experience and knowledge of excel spreadsheets

• Availability to work overtime when required and good attendance record is important
