Our client, a large public sector employer based in the West Of Edinburgh, seeks to recruit an experienced Senior Finance Officer to work on a full time basis, starting immediately.
Rate of pay is £10.61 p/h and hours of work are Monday to Friday 37 hours between the core hours of 8am and 6pm (7.5 hours per day)
Key duties and tasks
Process budget and financial journals, as directed by the Management Accountant and the Finance Manager.
Knowledge of financial coding structure required and ability to assist non finance staff with the coding structure.
Detailed knowledge and expertise with the financial computer system.
To provide advice in use of financial codes to staff out with finance.
To distribute Healthcare Improvement Scotland standing financial documents, scheme of delegation and authorised signatories.
To ensure bank transfers, cheques and other payable orders are appropriately and timeously authorised.
Responsibility for the petty cash float, including internal costing allocations, and handling reimbursement of expenses for staff and lay representatives through petty cash system. Also monitor petty cash float in the office
Process income in accordance with financial procedures
Knowledge & Skills
The post holder requires 3 years' experience in a finance or similar role. It will also be desirable to have or be studying toward an accounting qualification at certificate level. It will take around 6 months to become familiar with the financial systems and in-house IT systems and procedures. In addition, the post holder will need around 9 months to gain relevant knowledge of the various student support arrangements and accounting requirements of the agency.
