Supply Chain Manager

Our client; a small, well established award winning Island firm specialising in high-performance systems operating in the Defence and Homeland Security markets is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Manager to join them on a permanent basis.

The Supply Chain Manager will report directly to the Managing Director, and be responsible for integrating and optimising all the processes relating to manufacture and delivery of products across the complete product lifecycle (from the purchase of raw materials to the dispatch of the final product).

The role involves:
- Manage the entire supply chain process
- Pro-actively manage and report on component stock
- Provide reporting on lead-time of finished products to the sales team

Core Tasks
- Supplier validation and vendor quality assurance
- Adhering to and promoting compliance both with internal systems and supplier requirements
- Establish and maintain supplier agreements (and resolution of any arising contractual issues)
- Procurement of raw materials, components, assembled parts and sub-assemblies
- Manage logistics, overseeing inventory of both goods inwards and outgoings and keep thorough up to date reports of stock levels
- Ensure zero shortages, reducing any risk of hold ups with manufacturing
- Keep all channels of communication open within the supply chain
- Report on lead-times to manufactured product

Personal Qualities:
- Strong negotiating skills
- An understanding of Lean Principles
- Be organised and plan effectively with the ability to work to deadlines
- Be numerically competent
- Have strong written and verbal communication and be IT literate and familiar with key MS Office
- Be willing to undergo basic UK security checks

Skills and Qualifications:
- Recognised qualification in Supply Chain Management such as CIPS
- Proven background and experience in Operations
- Knowledge of current procurement policies and standards

This position of Supply Chain Manager is based is a full time post and would ideally suit an individual with experience of working within a small to medium volume manufacture who operates in the defence market.
