Our client is a well-established specialist contractor in electronic security systems – covering CCTV, access control, life safety, intruder detection, wireless technology, power & data and related M&E works. They operate across rail, utilities and critical infrastructure in the South East and have built a strong reputation for high standards of safety, quality and service delivery.
Due to a long-serving HSE Advisor moving on, they’re looking to appoint a Health, Safety & Environment Advisor to support projects across the South East, working closely with the HSEQ Manager and a newly appointed Quality & Compliance Manager.
The role based from Sidcup (Kent) with regular travel to sites across the South East, you will:
- Support the HSEQ Manager in delivering and continually improving HSE across rail, utilities and construction-style projects.
- Plan and carry out site inspections, visits and behavioural observations.
- Ensure employees, contractors and sub-contractors work in line with HSE legislation, CDM and client requirements.
- Deliver toolbox talks, briefings and training, promoting a positive HSE culture.
- Lead or support incident / accident / near-miss investigations and follow-up actions.
- Contribute to maintaining ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and 27001 and NSI Gold standards alongside the Quality & Compliance Manager.
- Represent the business at client HSE forums, Teams calls and review meetings.
- Prepare concise HSE reports and updates for management.
You can expect a good mix of office and site time (typically 2–3 days in Sidcup / 2–3 days on site, depending on project needs).
About you
Essential:- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (minimum).
- IOSH membership (Tech IOSH / Grad IOSH or similar) and membership of a recognised H&S body.
- 5+ years’ experience in Health & Safety, ideally with some Quality/Compliance exposure.
- Background in rail, utilities and/or CDM-led construction (or closely related infrastructure environments).
- Working knowledge of CDM 2015, construction phase plans, site set-up and working under Tier One contractors.
- Experience with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 audits/systems (and ideally 27001 / NSI NACOSS Gold).
- Strong communicator, able to engage engineers, supervisors and managers and translate HSE requirements into practical actions.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region.
- Able to obtain a DBS check (for security accreditation purposes).
Desirable:- Experience within rail stations/depots, substations or utilities environments.
- Exposure to electronic security systems, CCTV, access control, fire & life safety or related electrical works.
- PTS or utilities-related authorisations (or the aptitude and willingness to gain them).
