Our client in Ickburgh, Thetford is looking for 2 Permanent Shift Engineers

Shifts 4.00pm to 12.00am and 12.00am to 08.00am

Salary £28k rising to £30k

Reporting to: Operations manager and Production Engineer

Main Purpose of the job:-

To provide both PPM and breakdown cover for all production equipment, site services and plant facilities to minimise disruption to the factory operations. Ensure compliance to Health and Safety of staff and contractors to ensure a safe working environment. Provide detailed information on shift performance and engineering activity through report mechanisms. Work to agreed standards.

Duties & Responsibilities:-

Implement planned maintenance program provided by project Engineer for all plant and equipment throughout the company

Records shall be kept and maintained of the maintenance activity

Work closely with the project Engineer and Team Leaders to ensure a smooth an efficient production operation exists with minimal downtime through proactive and reactive maintenance

Execute daily tasks to ensure building facilities are performing within certain standards

Health & Safety & Environmental Management:-

Be proactive to ensure all engineering activities on site are conducted safely in accordance with the company Health & Safety policy

Monitoring and managing contractors on site to ensure that they operate safely at all times and that their activities do not present risk to themselves or company employees
Manage engineering tasks in a timely manner and priorities those that have health and safety implications

Where repairs are being carried out ensure manufacturer instructions and company procedures are followed and industry best practice are followed at all times. Advise the management team on equipment conditions which may develop or present risk to individual or to the business

Only undertake tasks authorised to do so

Ensure the following procedure are adhered: (this is not an exhaustive list of all the health and safety regulations required to be adhered to by the engineer)

Permit to work and safe working practices. Ensure the company permit to work system is adhered to, to ensure control of the activities of contractors and any “hot” works to include risk assessments, method statement, copies of company insurance and site induction

Working at Height. Ensure that the company working at height regulations are adhered to

Lock Off Procedure. Maintain a safe system of work through isolation and lock-off for cleaning and maintenance works

General:

To be on time and available to work at the start of your shift

Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained

Work within and ensure the companies quality standards and guidelines are met

Ensure a clean and safe working environment

Ensure any potential hazards are reported and dealt with immediately

Work and follow all standard operational procedure

Responsibility for accuracy of your own administration

Adhere to all rules within the Company handbook

Punctuality and professionalism at all times

Be responsible for your own Health and Safety and others around you adhering to company Health and Safety procedures

Any other responsible duties for which you are trained or capable of performing
