Part-time – 3 days per week (contract until March 2026) Pertemps are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join Gloucestershire County Council’s Children’s Services team. This is a part-time locum role (3 days per week) available until
March 2026, offering £35 per hour.
Key Requirements:- Significant experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Proven ability to produce high-quality reports for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Strong understanding of legal duties and the SEND Code of Practice
- Skilled in managing a diverse caseload, including children with complex disabilities
- Expertise in occupationally focused assessment, intervention, and report writing
Main Responsibilities:- Provide expert occupational therapy assessment, advice, and intervention for children and young people with a range of needs
- Act as Lead OT for SEND appeals and tribunal legal processes, contributing as an expert witness in contested cases
- Offer second opinions where OT provision in EHCPs is challenged
- Collaborate closely with the EHCP Team, schools, families, and other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for children
- Apply specialist knowledge to complex cases within an educational context
What We’re Looking For:- HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist with a strong background in Children’s Services
- Significant experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Proven track record of producing high-quality EHCP reports
- Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and the SEND Code of Practice
- Ability to manage a complex caseload with professionalism and efficiency
- Skilled communicator who can work collaboratively with families, schools, and professionals
