We are currently looking to recruit a Part Time Health and Safety Advisor to join our client in Somerset. This is a newly created position and would suit someone wishing to work in a challenging and exciting role to aid a successful operation and support ongoing growth plans and site development. The successful candidate will ensure that the sites are legally compliant in all areas of safety management, which are relevant to the company. They will also support the site in developing the right safety culture and assist in training of the warehouse and Management team.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced
Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take into account all relevant hazards
Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented
Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation
Prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policy
Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks
Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements
Record incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managers
Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry
Produce management reports, newsletters and bulletins
Ensure equipment is installed safely
Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding
machinery and occupational diseases

Job specific skills and attributes:
NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
Excellent written and spoken communication skills in order to explain health and safety processes to a range of people and to give presentations to groups
Excellent organisational, analytical and problem solving skills
Demonstrate a passion for doing things the right way
A self-starter who is passionate, driven and not afraid to challenge in a calm and mature manner
Good working knowledge of, or background in, multi-site warehouse operations
A flexible approach to work in terms of hours and location
A working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
