About the role
We are seeking applications from experienced chartered civil engineers who want the opportunity to work on challenging, high profile projects in a stimulating, inter-disciplinary design studio in London. Delivering high quality, sustainable infrastructure designs associated with building and landscape projects. The role includes management of the civil engineering team and actively marketing and developing the civils business. On offer is a unique opportunity to work on challenging large and small scale projects across many sectors both within interdisciplinary teams and with external project teams.
You will be an engineer with a strong academic record and at least 3 years post- chartership (MICE) experience gained working on challenging projects. You will be able to demonstrate excellent technical aptitude supplemented by outstanding IT skills and a facility with Eurocodes. You will be able to take the lead on technical issues and will have a good knowledge of civil engineering best practice design and construction principles. Your strong practical knowledge of Civils 3D, PDS, AutoCAD and WINDES, combined with strong problem solving techniques will enable you to deliver confidently in the following areas:
- Drainage associated with buildings, highways, public realm and landscape projects
- Highway and pavement design
- Undertaking designs for Section 38, 278 and 104 agreements
- Ground modelling
- Assessment of flood risk

You will be highly motivated with the ability to work with minimum supervision. Using your excellent communication skills and collaborative team-working style, you will enjoy expressing creative ideas through sketching. Your organised and methodical approach, with attention to detail, enables you to prioritise tasks and work to tight deadlines under pressure. You are likely to have be pragmatic and will use your strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients, design teams and employees.

The civil engineering team in the London Studio provides support on projects in London, the south east and internationally. Our projects include infrastructure associated with building developments, public realm projects, highway infrastructure projects and civil engineering masterplanning as well as flood risk studies. We work from early stages through to delivery on site.
This role represents a key position within the management team. The successful candidate will work with directors to grow a talented civils team. There is an opportunity to co-ordinate civil engineering strategy across the regions. The role will include management and development of team members as well as resourcing and financial monitoring and reporting. You will report to the Directors in the London studio.
