SEND HEAD TEACHER- HALSTEAD
The Education Network is looking for a specialist SEND Teacher who is looking for more responsibility. Our client is a small school based in Halstead Essex. This specialist SEND school has a therapeutic and holistic approach to teaching.

JOB TITLE - SEND LEAD TEACHER
START DATE - ASAP
LOCATION - Halstead
SALARY -£35,000-£ 38,000 PER ANNUM
Contracts - £175.00 - £185.00 per day for long term supply.
KEY STAGES - Key Stages 2, Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS2, KS3 or KS4)
CONTRACT TYPE - Ongoing or Permanent

OUR CLIENT - SEMH SPECIAL SCHOOL - HALSTEAD ESSSEX
Is a specialist school for pupils aged 8+ with multiple and complex needs including Asperger's, ADHD, ODD, OCD, BESD and Tourette's Syndrome.
The school is fully dedicated to helping pupils with difficulties whose needs have not been met elsewhere. Each pupil is assessed and a education and therapeutic programme is tailored for each students specific needs and ability

THE ROLE - SEND HEAD TEACHER
Although this role is a Head Teacher role, the school has only 16 pupils and you will be expected to play an active role teaching as well as supporting the staff. You will be a qualified Teacher who holds QTS or QTLS and will need to be able to find innovative and creative ways of teaching that will help reluctant and struggling learners to engage.
Provide a safe and nurturing environment where students feel safe and want to learn.
The ability to use a range of different learning resources and equipment to make classes fun and innovative is essential.

SEND HEAD TEACHER SPECIFICATION
You will need to be proactive with previous SEND experience in a senior role with some leadership responsibilities either in a SEND school or a mainstream setting with experience of working with Upper Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4) students. As well as holding QTS or QTLS it would be advantageous for you to have a counselling qualification.
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of current curricular and educational issues / relevant legislation.
Innovative and creative approach to teaching and learning.
Clear knowledge and understanding of assessment and monitoring procedures and ability to implement these.
An understanding of consistent approaches to behaviour management

The ability to remain calm when the need arises and have excellent negotiation skills is essential when working with SEMH and ASC students and you will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships quickly with children and their families.
