JOB TITLE: Special Educational Needs (SEND) Teachers

LOCATION: Bishop Stortford, Essex
SALARY: £25,350 - £31,200 for Permanent Full-Time roles. £130.00 - £160.00 per day for long term supply.
KEY STAGES: Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3 or Key Stage 4 (KS1, KS2, KS3 or KS4)
CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent, Contract, Temporary and Part time sessional work


You will need to be a qualified teacher who holds QTS, QTLS or a PGCE and have experience handling challenging students with a knowledge of one or all of the following; Behaviour, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD), Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH), Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC). You must be able to remain calm when the need arises and have excellent negotiation skills. You will need to have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships quickly with students and their families. You must show the ability to see through challenging behaviour, to motivate and inspire reluctant and struggling students coupled with the ability to differentiate work and use students interest's to build innovative and creative lesson. Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils. Secure and sustain effective teaching, evaluate the quality of teaching and
standards of pupils' achievements. Be accountable for pupil's attainment, progress and outcomes. Set targets for improvement to ensure high outcomes and be able to make accurate and productive use of assessment.

A recognised qualification in de-escalation and restraint such as PRICE, Team Teach, SCIP or MAPA is desirable but not essential.

You will be working in small classes with either Primary or Secondary aged students Key Stage (KS1) Key Stage (KS2), Key Stage 3 (KS3) or Key Stage 4 (KS4) who have statements for any of the following ASC/BESD/SEMH or school refusers.

You will be expected to give appropriate feedback and maintain records of pupils' progress and development. The successful candidate will be required to prepare pupils for qualifications and external examinations. You will liaise with other professionals, such as medical staff, careers advisers, educational psychologists, social services and education welfare officers.

We are currently working with several SEND schools in and around The Bishop Stortford area and are looking for supply and permanent teaching staff who have a real passion for SEND.
Our client schools are all extremely supportive to all our staff and are available to offer support and guidance. Having established strong relationships with our client schools over the past few years, The Education Network can confidently say that should you encounter any problems throughout your day our team will be on hand to assist.
You will be assisting teaching across the curriculum, and as there will be a strong focus on Literacy and Numeracy. Experience of PECS, MAKATON and any form of training in de escalation i.e. Team Teacher, MAPA or SCAPE would be advantageous.
