Job Details

My client is a certification body and classification society. They are a large private company who have grown dramatically over the last three years and are planning on doubling their portfolio over the next five years. They are currently looking for a Cost Controller to join their team on a long term ongoing interim basis. Based in Central London within their brand new refurbished offices, you will be working within a large finance function and reporting directly to the Finance Manager.

The Cost Controller is responsible for ensuring strong financial control of projects. This includes compliance, computing, classifying, recording and verifying numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records by overseeing the key tasks detailed below.

Duties include:

Acquire good understanding of the companies control manuals

Ensure that all new projects are set up correctly with correct financial data and contract documentation in the CRM system and transferred into the relevant financial system

Ensure timely process of internal invoices and project payables

Invoice generation for all external and internal projects within deadlines for the primary units and assistance if needed with the secondary units, and achieve WIP below 20 days

Generate and review monthly WIP reports

Financial analysis of projects

Maintain Monthly closing checklist

Handle monthly project review meetings with unit managers

Follow-up monthly on Accounts Receivables to assist in achieving KPI

Assist employees or customer by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, projects and services

There may also be the opportunity to develop the role to include the following;

Assist with client credit check and bid proposal financial reviews as needed or requested

Financial Analysis of Profit and Loss Accounts

The candidate:

Strong communication and listening skill with attention to detail

Proactive approach and anticipating what may be needed

Strong organisational awareness, knowing who to go to or how to get information

Organised and disciplined and can prioritise as dictated by the business

Educated to A-Level or equivalent

Financial qualifications desirable

Good knowledge and use of Microsoft products

Experience from similar position and tasks preferred

User knowledge of a sales administration system and advanced Excel skills is preferred

Good numeracy skills
