We are seeking an experienced Lawyer to work on a full time basis Monday - Friday. This is an exciting opportunity to work with Plymouth City Council within their legal team, with the focus on Children's care. You will offer a range of services, including in-depth legal research and advice, prosecutions, civil proceedings and deal with the case management in relation to your field.
This role is for approximately 4 months and will be located in the West Hoe area of Plymouth.
Salary for this exciting opportunity is in the region of £18-21ph depending on skills and experience.
You will hold the following experience and qualifications;
o Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives.
o Demonstrable understanding of primary and secondary legislation and the general law as it relates to local authorities, particularly in the field relevant to the post.
o In-depth working knowledge of the legal field in which the post holder is involved with.
o Demonstrable experience of working with quality assurance principles.
o Demonstrable experience of personally managing legal work to a high standard of accuracy, reliability and promptitude.
o Evidence of continuous professional development and commitment to attend appropriate in-house and external courses to precipitate this.
o Knowledge of the Local Government Act 1972 and other legislation to ensure the authority operates within its powers.
o Commitment to keep abreast of changes and developments in law and practice of their field and ensure that the team benefits from that knowledge.
o Essential experience required of working within the area of children's social care.
