JOB DESCRIPTION

Betting shop managers are responsible for all aspects of the running of a betting shop. They supervise and motivate staff, organise work schedules and recruit and train new staff. They strive to maximise shop profits, handle any customer complaints and ensure that the shop operates within regulations laid down by law.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are no formal qualifications for entry although entrants may be required to pass a maths test and have relevant experience. NVQs in Gambling Operations at Level 2 and 3 are available.

TASKS

  • Co-ordinates the work of other staff, plans work schedules and assigns tasks and responsibilities.
  • Maintains the accounts of betting shops and manages the budget.
  • Determines staffing, material, financial and other short- and long-term needs..
  • Ensures compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Provides customer service and deals with customer complaints.
  • Promotes the betting shop and generates new business.
