Mechanical Fitter / Service Technician

Fitter Service Support 
Salary: £35,000 + Overtime
Location: Castleford
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
 

This is a hands-on mechanical fitting role based mainly in a workshop. You'll repair, service and rebuild industrial pumps, making sure they are working correctly before they are sent back to customers. Occasionally, you'll also travel to customer sites to help with servicing and planned maintenance.


What you'll be doing:

 

• Taking pumps apart to inspect them for damage or wear. 
• Cleaning and refurbishing pumps. 
• Rebuilding pumps using new or repaired parts. 
• Reading engineering drawings to identify the correct components. 
• Measuring parts to make sure they meet the correct specifications. 
• Carrying out basic electrical checks on pumps. 
• Testing pumps to make sure they work properly. 
• Repairing and maintaining diesel-powered pump units. 
• Helping with deliveries and collections when needed. 
• Travelling to customer sites with the service team to carry out maintenance. 
• Completing inspection reports and paperwork accurately. 
• Following health and safety procedures at all times. 
  
  

 

What they're looking for:

 

• Mechanical fitting or engineering experience (apprenticeship or time served preferred). 
• Experience working on pumps, motors or other rotating machinery is ideal. 
• Ability to read engineering drawings. 
• Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills. 
• Full UK driving licence. 
• Someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and works well as part of a team. 
  
  

 
The following are beneficial but can often be trained if you don't already have them:
 

• Confined Space certificate. 
• Overhead Crane/Slinging licence. 
• Water Hygiene qualification. 
• Forklift licence. 
• ATEX (hazardous area) experience.
