Information Access Co-ordinator
3 Month Fixed-Term Contract
37 Hours Per Week | Monday – Friday
£23.19 – £27.29 per hour (depending on experience)

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Information Access Co-ordinator to join our team on a 3-month fixed-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a data protection professional with strong experience in Subject Access Requests (SARs), Environmental Information Regulations (EIR), data breach management, and Privacy Impact Assessments in line with ICO requirements.

The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating EIR compliance across the business while supporting the Information Access Team Leader and Data Protection Officer to ensure compliance with current data protection legislation and statutory obligations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate Environmental Information Regulation (EIR) compliance across the business
    • Support the management and delivery of Subject Access Requests (SARs) in accordance with statutory timescales
    • Assist with data breach reporting, investigation, and action management in line with ICO guidance
    • Support and contribute to Privacy Impact Assessments/Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
    • Provide expert advice and guidance on EIRs, SARs, and data protection matters
    • Establish, review, and update internal and external EIR and SAR guidance documentation
    • Promote awareness of EIR and SAR responsibilities across the organisation
    • Identify and investigate areas of non-compliance and support process improvements
    • Work collaboratively within the Information Access Team to ensure effective service coverage
    • Ensure all requests and issues are handled promptly, effectively, and in accordance with legislation and company policy

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience processing and responding to Subject Access Requests (SARs)
    • Experience supporting data breach management and reporting processes
    • Experience completing or supporting Privacy Impact Assessments/DPIAs
    • Basic understanding and practical application of Environmental Information Regulations (EIR)
    • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply legal statutes and directives relating to EIR and SARs
    • Strong understanding of:
      • Data Protection Act (DPA)
      • UK GDPR and its key principles
      • Environmental Information Regulations (EIR)
      • Freedom of Information Act 2000
      • Water Industry Act 1991
    • Understanding of how data protection legislation applies within private industry
    • Knowledge of how the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) interacts with Data Controllers, public authorities, and data protection practitioners
    • Strong communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills

Desirable
  • Previous experience within a regulated or utilities environment
    • Experience working within an Information Access or Data Protection team
