We are recruiting for an experienced Purchasing Manager to join a growing and well-established business based in Leicester. This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional who enjoys building supplier relationships, negotiating the best deals and making a real impact across a busy and varied operation.
This Purchasing Manager role will see you taking ownership of procurement activities across multiple sites, ensuring materials, equipment and services are sourced efficiently, delivered on time and provide excellent value for money. You'll work closely with operational teams, project managers and senior leadership to support day-to-day operations, refurbishment projects and business growth.
This is a varied and hands-on Purchasing Manager position suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, thrives on improving processes and has experience managing suppliers, purchasing budgets and procurement systems.
Key responsibilities of the Purchasing Manager will include:
• Managing end-to-end procurement and purchasing activities across multiple sites and projects
• Sourcing materials, equipment, plant hire and services while negotiating the best prices and commercial terms
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and monitoring supplier performance
• Raising and managing purchase orders, ensuring accurate records and timely deliveries
• Supporting construction, refurbishment and maintenance projects by coordinating materials and contractor quotations
• Managing stock levels, inventory and purchasing forecasts to ensure business needs are met
• Overseeing supplier invoices, credits and purchasing records while working closely with the finance team
• Managing utility contracts and supporting energy procurement across business sites
• Driving improvements to procurement processes, purchasing systems and supplier performance
• Producing procurement reports and leading and supporting the Purchasing Assistant
To be successful in this Purchasing Manager role, you'll need:
• Previous experience working as a Purchasing Manager, Procurement Manager, Senior Buyer or in a similar procurement position
• Strong experience managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts and achieving cost savings
• Experience purchasing materials, equipment or services within construction, property, facilities management or a similar environment would be highly advantageous
• Knowledge of purchase order management, invoice reconciliation and procurement best practice
• Experience managing stock control, inventory and supplier performance
• Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills
• Previous experience improving procurement processes and implementing purchasing systems would be beneficial
• Confident communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the business
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and procurement or ERP systems
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience would be advantageous
