Contracts Manager
Exeter
Competitive Salary + Package

About the Role
On behalf of a forward-looking construction business, we are recruiting a Contracts Manager to join a growing operation and play a key role in shaping its future. This role would suit a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager looking to take the next step in their career, managing multiple projects while driving performance across quality, safety, programme and commercial delivery.

As Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for the successful end-to-end delivery of projects, ensuring compliance, maximising commercial return, developing high-performing teams, and delivering an industry-leading customer experience.

You will also be a key influencer in evolving the culture of the business, helping to modernise ways of working, lift team performance and drive operational excellence rather than waiting for issues to arise.

This is an opportunity to become an integral part of the business’s future plans, with genuine scope to contribute to succession planning, strategic thinking and long-term operational improvement. With a very high percentage of work from repeat clients, consistency, professionalism and leadership are critical to continued success. From commercial new builds to complex refurbishments, they collaborate closely with clients to ensure a smooth, positive journey from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading Safe, High-Quality Delivery
    • Set and maintain exceptional health and safety standards across all projects
    • Deliver a right-first-time product to specification through disciplined quality management

    • Driving Programme & Commercial Performance
    • Plan, manage, and challenge project programmes
    • Ensure projects are fully compliant with company procedures and controls
    • Make sure RFI and CVI processes are properly controlled and understood
    • Leading and Developing People
    • Build capable, confident, and accountable project teams
    • Maintain strong client relationships and deliver a standout customer experience
    • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned to programme needs
    • Lead the design process to ensure buildability, compliance, and value
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience delivering large-scale or complex projects up to 10m, ideally across multiple workstreams
    • Strong understanding of health & safety, quality, and compliance
    • Solid commercial awareness with experience managing cost, cash flow, and profit
    • Programme management experience (Asta Powerproject preferred)
    • Confident managing subcontractors, supply chains, and design processes
    • Valid SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid at work certificates
