A leading global multidisciplinary consultancy is looking for an experienced Senior Traffic Engineer to join its growing Place & Movement team in London or Guildford.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Traffic, Highways or Transport Engineer looking to take the next step in their career, with responsibility for leading technical work, managing projects and developing junior engineers.
You'll work alongside transport planners, civil engineers, urban designers and other multidisciplinary specialists, delivering a varied portfolio of projects across London, the South East and beyond.

A leading global multidisciplinary consultancy is looking for an experienced Senior Traffic Engineer to join its growing Place & Movement team in London or Guildford.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Traffic, Highways or Transport Engineer looking to take the next step in their career, with responsibility for leading technical work, managing projects and developing junior engineers.
You'll work alongside transport planners, civil engineers, urban designers and other multidisciplinary specialists, delivering a varied portfolio of projects across London, the South East and beyond.
The ProjectsYou'll have the opportunity to work on a broad range of transport and highway schemes, including:
- Urban realm and public realm improvements
- Active travel and cycling infrastructure
- Highway and junction improvements
- Bus priority schemes
- Section 278 works
- Road safety schemes and 20mph zones
- Parking and streetscape projects
- Transport-related development projects
- Leading the delivery of traffic and highway engineering projects from concept through to detailed design and construction
- Taking technical ownership of project deliverables, including drawings, reports and design documentation
- Preparing and reviewing highway and traffic engineering designs in accordance with UK standards
- Managing project tasks, programmes, budgets and technical risks
- Liaising directly with clients, contractors, local authorities and other stakeholders
- Coordinating design work with civil engineering, structures, lighting, landscape, utilities and other disciplines
- Undertaking and reviewing traffic, transport and infrastructure assessments
- Supporting site inspections, surveys and construction monitoring
- Reviewing the technical work of junior and intermediate engineers
- Providing technical guidance, mentoring and support to developing members of the team
- Contributing to fee proposals, bids and wider business development
- Identifying opportunities to develop client relationships and support future project work
You'll ideally have:
- Significant experience in traffic, highways or transport engineering
- A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning or a related discipline
- Strong technical knowledge of urban traffic and highway engineering
- Proven experience delivering projects through design stages
- Experience working to UK highway design standards and guidance
- Strong experience with AutoCAD
- Good understanding of highway construction methods, materials and specifications
- Experience managing technical deliverables and project priorities
- Strong client and stakeholder management skills
- Experience mentoring or overseeing junior engineers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
