Pertemps are currently recruiting for an experienced Technical Designer to join their multi award winning client; specialists in the marine industry who are situated on the Isle of Wight. Ideally they would be looking for somebody who has an active interest in watersports with knowledge of sailing being a distinct advantage; although not essential. The position is a permanent role, which is based on approximately 40 hours per week; Monday to Friday.

The successful candidate must be willing to travel overseas up to 10 times per year for work up to 2 weeks away at any time. Working within a small team under the direction of the Design Manager and Production Manager you will be able to confidently display your ideas to all levels of the team whilst working on the concept and design of new products and updates to the existing range.
The ideal applicant must have professional experience with Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, as well as the following skills and requirements:

" Experience and knowledge of working with strong fabrics/constructions and suppliers
" Able to work towards strict deadlines; never letting standards slips
" Competency in sketching and skilled in key design software including some 3D experience
" Maintain committed and professional when under pressure
" Strong understanding of IT; including Microsoft Office
" Confident in presenting
" Able to communicate effectively with overseas clients
" In-depth knowledge of textiles and synthetic materials
" Practical sewing and pattern making skills to create early simple prototypes
" Experience of 2D sketching and 3D CAD (ideally Solidworks)

Key Duties:

" Design, from concept to Production, and Development of new products and updates to existing range
" Analysing and reporting to the team on key looks, textile development, trends, processes and new technologies
" Establish a close relationship with key partners and suppliers
" Regular visits to factories and international trade shows to source new products and suppliers
" Liaise with external organisations to evolve concepts and review development samples for construction; ensuring that you are continuously ahead of other active brands
