Job Description

HGV Class 1 Bulk Tanker Driver
Temporary ongoing opportunity
Based in Middlesbrough
Basic rate starting at £19.30ph

Required qualifications/experience
  • LGV Class 1 licence for over 3 years
    • Have no more than 3 valid penalty points
    • Demonstrate experience of tanker driving 
    • ADR Class 2 licence in tanks
    • Have a good understanding of EU and WTD tachograph legislation
The role: 
  • Deliver product to internal and external customers as directed by Local Transport Manager / DPC. 
    • Fill and analyse tankers and high-pressure trailers. 
    • Ensure legal compliance at all times in recording of hours worked via personal Tachograph and vehicle is road worthy at all times.
Principal responsibilities: 

Service
  • Delivery of the Bulk liquid against Key Service indicators and review service performance with the local Transport Manager on a regular basis.
    • Manage own performance to achieve agreed service levels.
    • Liaise with DPC, Garage workshop and local Transport Manager daily, in relation to vehicle, customer and personal issues that would impact on ability to achieve 100% compliance to scheduled daily work schedule.
    • Compliance to any Customer specific delivery instructions as noted within planning schedule / Bulk App regarding customer vessels and/or prior notification of arrival on site.
    • Couple and Uncouple Motive Units/Towing Vehicles from Tankers/Trailers
    • Refuel Vehicle
Safety and Compliance
  • Drivers will wear the uniform at all times whilst on duty and protective clothing when required to meet the needs of the job as laid down in the protective clothing schedule.
    • Working towards the achievement of branch safety targets and ensuring continuous improvement.
    • Ensure compliance with Company safety processes, standards, and work instructions, including risk assessments, near miss reporting, collision / incident investigation, Computer Based Training.
    • Ensure all customer site assessments, dynamic & manual handling risk assessments are carried out while at customer locations.
    • Ensure customer vessels are visual inspected prior to delivery then ensures all defects noted are recorded / reported to CES. Compliance with Company and Legal Standards, Policies & Principles
    • Acting safely is a critical condition of our employment.
    • Telematic KPI’s will be used on a day-to-day basis to engage, coach, and improve how vehicles are driven with regular feedback by your line manager to ensure local targets are met.
Other Tasks

  • Ensure all pre & post vehicle / trailer inspections are correctly recorded via provided means and all vehicle defects are recorded, any required vehicle / trailer repairs are carried out to ensure road worthiness prior to driving on public highway.
    • All delivery information is recorded within the Company provided electronic device in a timely fashion; purity notes & proof of delivery sent to customer at point of delivery.
    • Basic vehicle maintenance including but not limited to wheel retorque & changing lightbulbs.
    • Engage with Company safety & performance related campaigns.
    • Drivers will when necessary, following consultation and agreement, co-operate fully in the introduction of new technology.
