Pertemps are delighted to be working with our public sector client to recruit a Community Alarm Response Officer on an ad hoc basis.
Role: Hub Monitoring Practitioner (Ad Hoc)
Location: Edinburgh
Hours: Flexible / Ad Hoc shifts across a 24/7 service (including days, evenings, nights & weekends)
Pay Rate:
• Standard rate: £14.51 per hour
• Unsociable hours: up to £23.30 per hour
Duration: Temporary ongoing (ad hoc shifts)
Start Date: Immediate
A full clean UK driving licence is required
This role requires a PVG Certificate (£59 for a new application or £18 to update an existing certificate)

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a 24/7 Assistive Technology Enabled Care service on a flexible, ad hoc basis.
You’ll play a vital role in supporting elderly and vulnerable individuals, helping them remain safe and independent in their own homes. This role is ideal for someone looking for flexible work while still making a genuine difference in the community.
💼 What You’ll Be Doing
• Handling incoming alarm calls and emergency contacts within a busy monitoring hub
• Providing reassurance, advice and support over the phone
• Responding in person to emergencies, including falls and welfare concerns
• Carrying out dynamic risk assessments during visits
• Assisting individuals safely using approved moving and handling techniques
• Liaising with emergency services and partner organisations
• Installing and maintaining telecare and assistive technology equipment
• Accurately recording all actions on internal systems
• Handling sensitive situations with professionalism and care
👀 What We’re Looking For
Essential:
• Experience in health, social care or a similar frontline role
• First Aid or Moving & Handling training
• Confident communication skills (phone and face-to-face)
• Ability to stay calm and make decisions in high-pressure situations
• Good IT skills and accurate record-keeping
• Flexible approach to ad hoc shift work across a 24/7 rota
• A compassionate, resilient and team-focused attitude
Desirable:
• Experience in call handling or contact centre environments
• Knowledge of telecare or assistive technology
