Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity for and experienced Senior Level 3 NDT Engineer to join an established highly regulated precision engineering & manufacturing business who produce a range of innovate for global export and be the subject matter expert on site.
NDT Engineer - Level 3
Salary: £50-70000 (DOE)
Location: Sheffield
This is an interesting and varied responsibility to work for a business that design and manufacture high value engineered products for the energy, oil & gas, aerospace, aerospace and defence sectors.
As a Level 3 NDT Inspector and thus process expert, you will be responsible for interpreting customers requirements and ensuring all work instructions and training are compliant to the relevant standards and clients needs.
Responsibility to ensure the integrity and quality of the product and training a team in a range of NDT techniques including:
• Ultrasonic Testing (UT) • Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPT)
Duties:
o Establish and approve NDT methods and techniques and supporting procedures in line with company and regulatory requirements.
o Manage qualification and ongoing approval of a team of NDT technicians and contractors, develop training plans and keep records for all NDT levels and determine techniques to be applied across the product range.
o Manage relationship with Company nominated Level 3, approved training partner and service providers.
o Directly support daily operations offering guidance on detected defects and work closely with MRB engineers to determine corrective actions.
Required Qualifications
Essential knowledge for this role is qualified NDT at L3 in one or both of the following disciplines:
Ultrasonic Testing (UT); Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPT). Knowledge of other NDT techniques ( Dye Pen ) or welding inspection are desirable
o Degree educated in a relevant Engineering discipline or apprenticeship plus significant relevant experience
o Understanding of metallic components and manufacturing process: Forging, Welding, Heat treatment
o Strong oral and written communication skills.
o Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve problems using structured problem solving techniques
o Background in the manufacture engineered products for the energy, oil & gas, aerospace, aerospace/ defence sectors or similar
