Funding & Compliance Manager / Apprenticeships Sector- 12 month FTC
Location: Remote (with occasional travel to Birmingham, London, or Oxford)
Salary: £38,000–£45,000 + 25 days holiday + birthday off
We’re seeking an experienced Funding & Compliance Manager to lead ther Apprenticeship compliance and audit function, ensuring adherence to government funding rules, contractual requirements, and organisational governance. As a member of the Senior Management Team, you’ll act as the subject matter expert on all regulatory and audit matters while maintaining excellent service levels.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead compliance across all government-funded apprenticeship contracts and historic funding streams.
    • Oversee ILR submissions, maintain the DfE risk register, and ensure accurate data using FRM, PDSAT, and DLOCK reports.
    • Prepare for and manage internal and external audits, monitoring visits, and regulatory inspections.
    • Develop policies, compliance reports, dashboards, and training programmes.
    • Manage a small team (Administrator and Compliance Officer) and drive continuous improvement in operational processes and reporting.
    • Interpret complex funding rules and communicate requirements clearly across the organisation.
Person Specification:
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience.
    • Proven experience in apprenticeship provision, funding compliance, and operational management.
    • People management experience in dynamic environments.
    • Hands-on knowledge of ILR processes and external audits (DfE/ESFA, Ofsted).
    • Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
    • Experience with MI/reporting systems (Aptem, Maytas, PICS, OneFile, Bud) desirable.
    • Understanding of safeguarding, Prevent responsibilities, and data protection.
